Oh my darling, I’m so glad we sprouted close together. I watched you grow mysteriously for years, you were just out of reach until that day. I longed for your touch. Then, you touched me, and I stretched so far and even tore my bark to stay in your grasp. Ahhh! At last you showed me you felt the same as I did. Now look at us, old lovers. We sure have seen a lot along this bank. I’m so grateful we are as one and have supported each other through so many seasons of this life. If we are granted another hundred years, or two, to continue intertwining our branches and roots, it won’t be long enough. You are a part of me and I can never let you go. I love you my love. Let’s hug while we rest awhile longer through these cold days and nights. Wake me up in the spring. We will sing again then.
