Drawn In By Love

As the celebrations commence all over the globe in remembrance of our Savior's birthday I've been moved. The Lord wants us close. He's the one who calls us by name with knowing, deep within our spirits to satisfy the yearnings of intimacy. He created us for fellowship with Him. As I've been reflecting on the different ways God draws us in, I first thought of the shepherds in the fields tending sheep when the angels came and announced the birth of the promised King of kings. He wanted them close, as a shepherd of hearts, he knew these faithful ones would be the perfect ones to tell. The magi too, they were studying the scriptures and watching the skies. When the star appeared, they knew it must be followed. He drew them in.

This past Sunday I was honored to be a guest and lead the congregation of a small church into the lap of God through praise and worship music. It's not something I take lightly. God had been preparing me for weeks to be able to get into position, literally and figuratively within my heart. He reminded me of the sweet scent of a baby's breath. That's how close He wants us to be. Can you remember the experience of holding a young child, calmly watching them breathe and kissing their soft mouth? How the God of the universe chose to begin His sacrificial journey is miraculous. And it's good to be filled with wonder. It's good to be drawn in by Love and be held by Love who heals us, comforts us and carries us through another day. If we truly desire to know Him, and are willing to get closer...at some point along that journey the magic happens,

His grace envelops us and sets us free from our twisted ideas and brokenness and we can rest, laugh, play or talk with Him in the perfect safety of His mercy. It's a personal relationship, and it should be very close.

I challenge you to listen for His gentle voice today. What is He saying to you right this very moment? Are you willing to listen? Do you want to experience His best for your life? Do you want to be held? Draw closer, and I guarantee He will draw closer to you...and bring you all the way into His joyful presence. Oh come let us behold Him, Christ the Lord.
